Bactronix thinks it’s imperative that everyone is safe from mold and the viruses they can cause, which is why we offer mold testing. Bactronix utilizes a non-invasive, safe, quick mold detection process that is friendly for pets and people. Our state of the art mold detection technology is used in homes, hotels, commercial buildings,  the food and beverage industries, health care and pharmaceutical industries, hospitals, restaurants, supermarkets and other facilities where rapid detection of contamination is critical.

Breaking Down Our Process:

ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate) is an energy molecule found in all plant, animal and microbial cells. All organic matter contains ATP, including food, bacteria, mold and other microorganisms. The detection of ATP on a surface or in water indicates the presence of biological matter that is not visible to the naked eye. ATP is detected by using “Bioluminescence Technology” measured by a luminometer.

Bioluminescence is a light producing reaction when ATP comes in contact with an enzyme called “luciferase”. Luciferase is a natural enzyme found in the common firefly, that gives the firefly it’s ability to glow.

Step 1: A cotton swab is removed from a plastic applicator tube, then firmly rubbed over a patch of surface area. The cotton swab is placed back into the applicator tube where the sample is introduced to the enzyme luciferase. A gentle shaking motion activates the bioluminescence reaction process between any ATP collected and the luciferase.

Step 2: Next, a luminometer reads the sample. The applicator tube (containing the activated swab) is placed into a hand-held luminometer or BactroMeter. This meter measures the amount of bioluminescence generated when the energy molecule “ATP” comes in contact with the enzyme “luciferase.”

Step 3: Results are measured in “Relative Light Units” (RLU), and the number is displayed on the screen. A high number means the luminometer detected a higher level of light created by a large amount of ATP. This concludes that the area sampled has a high level of contamination. A lower RLU number means a lower level of ATP and a lower level of contamination.

Once we have determined whether or not your home, office or other areas are infected by mold and to what level they are infected, then we can recommend the best procedure for eliminating those harmful bacteria.
